According to AS, Dejan Lovren appears likely to leave Liverpool this summer. If the 30-year-old is to move on, we could see Jurgen Klopp bring in another central defender to ensure that he has sufficient cover for Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Two names continuously came up amongst these supporters after AS’ report was shared online – RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez. Upamecano was part of the side that eliminated Tottenham Hotspur from the UEFA Champions League recently and is currently valued at £45m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Gimenez was a substitute during Atletico Madrid’s recent victory at Anfield and is currently valued at £63m. If the Reds were to sell Lovren it’s unclear what they would demand for the Croatian. Going by his value on Transfermarkt.co.uk, he’s worth £18m which suggests Liverpool would still need to make a significant investment if they want to bring in any of the two names mentioned above.
