According to Empire of the Kop on Twitter, at times this season, the Reds have lacked a creative spark in midfield. The tweet goes on to ask whether or not the supporters believe Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz could be the man to change that.

Liverpool have previously been linked with a summer move for the 20-year-old and his boss Peter Bosz has told Goal.com that it’s unlikely the Bundesliga outfit will be able to keep hold of the promising youngster. He did go on to say they are not willing to allow him to leave for less than £90m however, so how would these supporters feel about the prospect of the German international coming to Merseyside?

Would you spend £90m and above on Kai Havertz?

One fan even appears to compare the midfielder to Bruno Fernandes. Interestingly, Steve Nicol recently stated that Fernandes would replace Georginio Wijnaldum in Jurgen Klopp’s side, and the midfielder has already shown just how influential he can be in the final third this season with 16 goals and 14 assists to his name, as well as proving he can handle the Premier League with two goals and three assists in five games.

So, with Phil Thompson calling for the Reds to sign a Philippe Coutinho type player, it come as no surprise that a fan brought up another playmaker in the form of Fernandes.

Who were Liverpool scheduled to play this Monday?

Interestingly, it has been claimed that Liverpool could pursue the Brazilian if Bayern Munich don’t sign him permanently, which may have prompted this fan to bring his name up.

What do we think?

Kai Havertz has started in 88% of Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga fixtures so far this season, scoring six times and providing five assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Across all competitions, his average performance rating currently stands at 7.22/10 according to WhoScored.com. In our view, he would be an asset to any club he moves to, however, given the transfer fee his club are said to be demanding we suspect Liverpool may think twice before making such a significant investment.
