On 6th March 2011, Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool side beat Manchester United 3-1 at Anfield. Dirk Kuyt scored a hat-trick that day with his first two goals coming in quick succession before the Dutchman added a third in the second period.
The Reds remained in sixth after that victory, but the result blew the title race wide open and provided Arsenal, who at the time had played a game less, the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Manchester United (as per BBC Sport).
Is Luis Suarez one of Liverpool's all time greats?
Yes
No
Highlights of the fixture were shared on social media by The Redmen TV on Twitter to commemorate nine years since their memorable victory. But despite the former Feyenoord striker’s contribution that day, these fans believe this was the game in which another Anfield hero announced himself.

The day Suarez truly announces himself.

Although some were more determined to point out Suarez’s influence, Kuyt’s passion for the club didn’t go unnoticed and rightly so.
Love me some Dirk Kuyt

What do we think?
Dirk Kuyt made 285 appearances for the Reds during which he scored 71 goals and provided 40 assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Known for his ability to cut inside from the flank and lay-off the ball for his teammates (via WhoScored.com), we believe the Dutchman will always be remembered as a cult hero.
Luis Suarez went on to score 82 goals and make 47 assists in 133 appearances before eventually joining Barcelona in 2014 for £73.55m. In our view, the Uruguayan should go down as one of the club’s greatest ever players and it’s a debate that has been had ever since he left for pastures new.
