Supporters of Everton have been reacting to a Twitter post from Anthony Gordon following the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The day after the trip to Stamford Bridge, the young Englishman posted to social media with two photos, one of himself and one with Ross Barkley (per Anthony Gordon), the second of which frustrated some fans.

Who would you rather have playing for the Toffees in midfield now?

The 19-year-old attacker was introduced into the game for a short cameo against the Blues (per Transfermarkt) which earned him a 5/10 performance rating (as per Liverpool Echo).

However, following his short showing, some supporters aired that they would rather see the youngster given a start ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson, who picked up a 3/10 at Stamford Bridge (per Liverpool Echo).

What do we think?

Judging from the first batch of replies, it is clear to see that some Everton supporters certainly bear a grudge with Barkley having departed the Toffees over two years ago now (per BBC).

What else is clear is that fans also want to see Gordon start ahead of Sigurdsson in the derby on Monday, and with the youngster having a pass completion of 85.7% in the Premier League which betters the Icelandic’s 81.7% (per WhoScored), that may not be a bad shout.
