This week, with the suspension of all sanctioned football in England, Crystal Palace’s Twitter account has been going back through the archives to bring fans highlights from some of their favourite moments in recent years.
Yesterday’s memory was from April 1, 2017, when the Eagles beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
The nomination of this match prompted the club to post footage of the brilliant win, including goals from Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke. Cesc Fabregas opened the scoring for the Blues within five minutes of kick-off, before Zaha scored the leveller in the ninth minute, before Benteke scored the winner in the 11th minute of the match.
Is Christian Benteke doing enough right now for Palace?
Yes - he provides a lot off the ball
No - he needs to be scoring goals
But when the footage was shared with fans, there was only one man they were focusing on. Benteke’s performance in these highlights impressed them, with the Belgian also setting up Zaha’s goal, as can be seen from the footage.
The supporters admit that they wish this Benteke would show up more regularly, with them implying that the Belgian is a shadow of the player they saw back in 2017.

Even through the bad form THIS GOAL is why I’ll always love Benteke

Can we have that Benteke back please?

What do we think?
With Benteke having only scored one goal and registering just one assist in 21 appearances this season, fans have good reason to be critical of the striker. Hopefully, for the player and the fans, he can return to the form shown in the footage above when football resumes.
