Crystal Palace’s win against Brighton on the weekend was only the third time they have recorded back-to-back victories this season. Roy Hodgson’s side are also yet to win more than two consecutive games this season.
However, with Brighton being rivals, the 1-0 win at the Amex Stadium was even more important. Jordan Ayew scored the goal in the 70th minute to win the match, despite Palace having just 33.5% of the possession.
When HLTCO posted footage of Ayew’s goal on Twitter, fans were impressed with Christian Benteke’s assist during the goal. The Belgian striker threaded a brilliant pass in and behind the Brighton backline to set up the match-winner. Many supporters were left shocked with the brilliance of the move.
The more I see that pass the better it gets.

80% the pass from Benteke, 20% the finish from Ayew. 100% perfect.

Benteke needs more credit for that assist. That pass was so perfectly weighted. https://t.co/AQgGJDvxNz

Will Christian Benteke rack up more than 10 combined goals and assists by the end of the season?
Yes
No
What do we think?
Benteke’s assist was only his first of the season. With 20 appearances to his name, the Belgian has only scored and assisted one time each.
However, despite these shockingly low numbers, his first goal came just three games ago against Everton. With his first assist coming against Brighton, the big man looks to be finally hitting his stride after an otherwise unsuccessful start to his season.
