Clean sheets aren’t necessarily the best statistic to judge goalkeepers on. This statistic could, in retrospect, be more of a reflection on a team’s overall defensive contributions, instead of a goalkeeper’s capabilities. Despite this, Crystal Palace aren’t wasting any opportunity to flaunt Vicente Guaita’s rank in the Premier League clean sheet standings.
The Spaniard is currently joint fifth in the Premier League clean sheet standings, which Palace’s tweet correctly points out is the best standing of any Spanish goalkeeper in the league. This means, with his nine clean sheets, Guaita is ranked higher than David de Gea, on eight, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, on six.
In all honesty, who will start for Spain at the Euros?
De Gea
Kepa
Guaita
When the club tweeted out this statistic, Palace fans were quick to jump in on the cheeky banter. They claim that he is the best Spanish goalkeeper out of the three and is deserving of a national team call up.

What do we think?
Guaita made his move to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer. With his obvious success this season, Guaita’s transfer can be looked back on as a brilliant bit of business.
