Despite there being no football to watch at the moment because of the ongoing shutdown of all professional English football, many Crystal Palace fans have still been left heartbroken by their side.
Well, admittedly, the feeling of heartbreak has been lingering in their memories for the last four years. The memory emerged after @HLTCO admitted that one of their most heartbreaking moments supporting the club was losing to Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup Final.
The fan account claimed that Jason Puncheon’s late goal in the 78th minute gave him so much hope in the moment, only for Juan Mata to equalise in the 81st. Of course, Manchester United went on to win the match in extra time after Jesse Lingard scored in the 110th minute.
Other Palace fans admitted that this moment was extremely painful for them to recall as well. They were slightly peeved at the fan account for bringing it up again.
Don't, I'm still not over this

Yes, that late goal gave us belief and hope…. and it’s the hope that can kill you…

I’m still not over it so if you could stop bringing it up please

Looking back I think I should be more disappointed but I’m not. Just proud of how well we played and close it was

What do we think?
What may make this memory even more painful was the influence of referee Mark Clattenburg. His failure to utilise the advantage rule in key moments would have had many fans aggrieved. They may have felt that had he allowed play to resume in certain scenarios, the Eagles would have scored one or two more vital goals.
