This week, Crystal Palace’s official Twitter account posted footage of some of Vicente Guaita’s best moments in a Palace shirt this season.
The two-and-a-half-minute highlight reel showcases the goalkeeper making saves from free-kicks, long-range shots and supposed tap-ins. The saves highlight the player’s incredible athleticism, reactions and bravery to put his body on the line countless times for his team.
This prompted many Eagles fans to applaud the player, and call for him to be named the club’s Player of the Season. The last goalkeeper to win the award was Julian Speroni back in 2014. Speroni won the award three times in a row between 2008 and 2010, meaning he has won the award four times in total.

Speroni has certainly set a precedent at Palace of goalkeepers winning the player of the year award. Guaita will be hoping that he can continue his impressive performances if and when the season picks back up again.
This week, it was announced that the season will not resume on April 30th, as originally planned.
