Aston Villa fans have been discussing on Twitter recently emerged statistics on the club’s defensive issues so far this season.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page that included a list of defensive statistics originally shown on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football program covering Villa’s recent 4-0 defeat at Leicester City.
The stats show that Villa are bottom of the league in terms of goals conceded, clean sheets, shots faced, set-piece goals conceded, headed goals conceded, goals conceded from corners and errors leading to goals conceded etc.
Who is to blame for Villa's defensive struggles this season?
The players
Dean Smith & John Terry
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were not happy with this latest information.

And some say we should stick with Smith because he’s a Villa Fan. That is shocking, anyone else would’ve been sacked long ago. Doug wouldn’t have put up with it #AVFC

The defeat at Leicester saw the Birmingham club fall to their 17th defeat of the season resulting in them sitting in the relegation zone of the Premier League table. As this list of worrying defensive statistics made the rounds on Twitter, this caught the attention of a lot of Villa fans who couldn’t help but air their frustrations with the team and management.
Unsurprising. What is the point of John Terry?

Grim reading.

That is pretty horrendous…

What do we think?
These stats perfectly back up Villa’s poor defensive performance throughout the season. If they want to remain in the Premier League, the area they will need to fix up is the defence, and quick.
