Aston Villa fans have been reacting on Twitter to the latest news surrounding two potential past transfers at the club.
This comes after Villa journalist Gregg Evans shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that the Birmingham club almost signed Joe Gomez and Benjamin Pavard but ultimately didn’t.
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were not happy to hear this latest transfer news.
Who would you rather have seen at Villa?
Joe Gomez
Benjamin Pavard
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to Evans’ post:
The full story @TheAthletic of how #AVFC nearly signed Joe Gomez and Benjamin Pavard
– Villa offered Gomez more money but he chose #LFC
– Pavard was available for less than £1m and even watched a game at VP!
Since then:
Gomez (won CL)
Pavard (won WC)https://t.co/aaG5hf3KSd— Gregg Evans (@greggevans40) March 25, 2020
Are we not depressed enough

Yeah, we would’ve turned Gomez into the next James Bree and Bruce would’ve got rid of Pavard like he did Amavi.

Times are miserable enough than to read this ?

Evans also claimed that Villa offered Gomez more money but the Englishman chose to join Liverpool instead. Whereas Pavard didn’t join the club when he would have been available for under £1 million and that he even watched a game at Villa Park. This news didn’t go down well with a lot of Villa fans who were disappointed to hear this latest report.
Story of our lives, the class players we ‘almost’ signed ?

Irrelevant… you know for a fact that they’d have turned out as duds/flopped as soon as they hit our wage bill! Just how it works at the villa ?????

That should lighten the mood, Gregg. Cheers

What do we think?
It’s interesting to hear this latest news on two players that could have been Villa players but ultimately chose different paths. Things could have worked out incredibly differently had the pair chose to join the Birmingham club when they had the chance.
