Fans of Aston Villa have been reacting to Bjorn Engels’ post on Twitter, in which the 25-year-old reflects on Villa’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the League Cup final last Sunday.
Engels, who arrived at Aston Villa from Stade Reims last summer, has made 18 appearances for Villa in all competitions this year, scoring one goal.
The 25-year-old, who is valued at £10.8 million, has been in good form for Villa this term, averaging a 6.65 WhoScored match rating over his 16 Premier League fixtures with the club.
The centre-back impressed Villa fans once again during their spirited 2-1 League Cup final defeat last Sunday, in which the former Belgian U21 international made one tackle, won one aerial duel, and completed 80% of his passes.
Following the defeat, Engels posted on Twitter: “We gave everything but it wasn’t to be… Thanks for the great support like always! MY TEAM.”
In reaction to the defender’s tweet, Villa fans flooded his replies, complimenting his performance and informing him of how proud they were of both Engels and his side.

What do we think?
Villa fans will certainly hope that their side’s impressive performance against Manchester City can be used as a springboard to achieving improved results in the league, with the club currently occupying 19th place in the table, two points from safety, and facing difficult fixtures against Leicester and Chelsea in their next two games.
