Aston Villa fans have been fuming on Twitter over recent footage from Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @TyBracey shared a post on their official Twitter page that included a video clip originally posted by @EthanAVFC_ of the corner that Manchester City scored their second goal from.
The footage shows that the corner should not have been given as the ball ended up deflecting off Ilkay Gundogan after a tackle from Jack Grealish.
Did the referee cost Villa the final?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to share their disappointment with the decision that ultimately cost their side the match.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:

Despite a consolation goal from Mbwana Samatta, Dean Smith’s side just couldn’t overcome the two-goal lead City took in the first half of the match at Wembley Stadium. Now the footage of the incorrectly given corner that led to Rodri’s goal to double City’s lead has been doing the rounds on Twitter, this has paved the way for lots of Villa fans to share their anger over the decision to award the corner in the first place.
What’s really annoying is that the refs/FA won’t come out and explain themselves or even apologise.

What do we think?
While it’s understandable why so many Villa fans are upset over the decision to award City a corner when it should have been a goal kick, the Villa players should have done better to defend the corner to stop Rodri scoring.
