Aston Villa fans have been discussing January signing Louie Barry after his latest goal for the Villa U23 team.
This comes after the official Villa Twitter account shared a post on their page announcing that Barry had scored Villa’s consolation goal in the U23’s 3-1 defeat to Reading on Monday.
Should Louie Barry be given a chance to play in the Villa first team?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the teenage striker after his latest goal.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post, with one even suggesting the teenager could become their version of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford which would be something very exciting for the Villans if it were to happen. The Red Devils forward has gone on to manage 64 goals and 31 assists in his 201 appearances (per TransferMarkt) despite being just 22-years-old.
Louie Barry nets in the second half, but it’s not to be for the Under-23s.

The centre-forward signed to the Birmingham club from Barcelona in the previous January transfer window. Since then, the 16-year-old has been playing in the Villa youth sides, scoring two goals in an U18s match against Norwich and now has another goal for the U23s in their defeat against Reading. Barry’s latest goal has given plenty of Villa fans the opportunity to suggest that the teenager should be given a chance to perform in the Villa first team under manager Dean Smith.
Got to give him a chance in the first team before the end of the season

Surely got to whack him in the first team. Rooney didn’t do too badly at 16..

What do we think?
It’s great to see so many Villa fans that have the belief and confidence in Barry that he could be worth being played in the Villa first team. This shows that the Villa fans have been impressed with what they have seen from Barry in his short time at the club.
