Some West Brom fans are taking to social media to show their appreciation for their former centre forward Salomon Rondon, following some recent comments from the Venezuelan speaking positively about his time at the Hawthorns.

Rondon has reflected back on his time in the Premier League in a recent interview with The Athletic’s George Caulkin. Rondon notably speaks fondly about his tenure with West Brom as well as his appreciation for the Baggies’ “supportive” fans.

Rondon originally joined the Baggies in 2015 from Zenit St.Petersburg for a club-record fee of £15.3 million, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. The Venezuelan forward went on to spend two full seasons with West Brom, scoring 24 goals and contributing seven assists for the Baggies in the Premier League.

Some West Brom fans have shared their mutual fondness for Rondon on social media following the 30-year-old’s recent positive comments on his time at The Hawthorns. Read the positive replies of some West Brom fans to Rondon’s comments in the tweets below.

What do we think?

It may be fair to say that Rondon truly showed his class during his tenure with Newcastle United, following his departure from West Brom. In his one season at St. James’ Park, Rondon scored 11 Premier League goals and made seven Premier League assists. This means that the forward contributed to just under 43% of Newcastle United’s 42 goals in the 2018/19 season.

Given Rondon’s quality in the 2018/19 season following his departure from West Brom, it may be fair for Baggies fans to display some regret that they may not have gotten the best out of the Venezuelan forward during his time at The Hawthorns.
