Some West Brom fans have been expressing their unhappiness on social media as midfielder Jake Livermore missed out on a place in the official EFL Team of the Week.

Some Baggies supporters have taken exception to the 30-year-old being omitted, despite producing an impressive performance in West Brom’s 3-0 win over Bristol City this past Saturday.

According to WhoScored.com, Livermore made an impressive total of 11 tackles, while the midfielder also made two key passes and completed one successful dribble at Ashton Gate.

The midfielder earned an overall rating of 8.3, according to WhoScored, with only two other West Brom players earning a higher rating than Livermore for their weekend performance.

Following a post from West Brom’s official Twitter account questioning the decision not to include Livermore in the Team of the Week, some fans have also been making their unhappiness known on Twitter. Read the unhappy responses of some West Brom fans to Livermore’s omission in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Two League One midfielders in Sunderland’s Chris Maguire and Rotherham United’s Ben Wiles were included in the two central midfield positions in the EFL Team of the Week at the expense of Livermore.

Maguire, who made three assists in Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers last Saturday, played on the right of Sunderland’s front three last weekend, according to WhoScored.com. Meanwhile, Wiles, who scored a 91st-minute winner in Rotherham’s 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley last Saturday, was only introduced to the game from the bench in the 71st minute, according to WhoScored.

Both of the midfielders who were included made direct goal contributions at the weekend, while Livermore didn’t. However, it may be fair to argue that Livermore warrants a place in the team due to his impressive defensive work in last Saturday’s contest, as well as the fact he was on the pitch for the full game.
