Earlier today, the Northern Echo published an article explaining why Sunderland should start playing both Charlie Wyke and Kyle Lafferty at the same time. Utilising quotes from assistant manager Steve Parkin’s press conference, the publication indicated that a two-striker system could be worthwhile for the Black Cats.
During the interview, Parkin insisted that playing in a two-striker formation does have some benefits. But he also went on to say that the formation could only work if the management could ensure there was balance in the rest of the lineup.
However, there are many Sunderland fans who would rather just see Lafferty come in for Wyke altogether. Wyke, who is valued at £315k (as per Transfermarkt), has been involved in the last 12 of Sunderland’s league matches, of which the side have only lost twice. However, in that stretch of games, he has only scored three goals. The supporters think it is about time Lafferty is given a good runout with the side, despite only playing 86 minutes for the club since signing in January.
Here is a collection of fans who think Lafferty should come in for Wyke.

What would you rather Parkinson try?

Lafferty - Wyke partnership
When the club posted a clip of Wyke scoring, the Sunderland fans shared their frustration at his lack of consistency, once again asking for Lafferty to start.
PP still needs to start Semenyo or Lafferty, he’s only scored 4 in 21…

What do we think?
With Sunderland set to face Rochdale tonight, Sunderland fans won’t have to wait long before they see what Phil Parkinson’s plans are. Hopefully, for their sake, he sends out a winning lineup.
