Aside from their loss on the first day of the month, Sunderland have gone undefeated for the remainder of February. The side picked up 13 points from a possible 18.
And, as the month comes to a close, Sunderland fans have been asked by their club to vote for their Player of the Month.
One name that flooded the responses to their tweet was Chris Maguire. The ‘King’ has had an incredible month – scoring once and assisting six goals. His highlight game came against Bristol Rovers when he achieved a 9.22/10 WhoScored rating after assisting two out of Sunderland’s three goals.
If we average out his WhoScored ratings from the entire month, he achieved a 7.75/10 rating across the span of the six games.

However, while these fans agreed that Maguire was deserving of the award, they admit that Jordan Willis is in with a shout as well. Willis scored the crucial goal in Sunderland’s 1-0 victory at Oxford.

Sunderland have built up a ton of momentum since the new year. The side is now just three points off automatic promotion with 11 games left. Should players like Maguire and Willis continue to perform, the Black Cats have an excellent chance of achieving promotion.
