Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have been left fuming after Garry Monk’s decision to play Fernando Forestieri at left wing-back against Luton.

The Owls picked up a 1-0 loss to Luton on Wednesday, thanks to a first-half goal by James Collins. The game saw Forestieri start but the Italian started in the left wing-back position as they used a 3-5-2 formation with Connor Wickham playing upfront.

How did Forestieri play v Luton?

But Wednesday fans were left fuming at this and they feel it was a bad decision to start Forestieri in that position. They made their opinions clear.

So far this season, Forestieri has made nine appearances in all competitions under Monk. He has one goal and one assist to his name so far. He has made eight appearances playing further forward as a second-striker with the rest coming in a more attacking left-wing role.

What do we think?

As per Whoscored, Forestieri won three tackles in the game with a 100% accuracy. He made one interception, completing one dribble as well. He also had a passing accuracy of 100%. That shows that it wasn’t necessarily a bad performance, though fans were clearly irked by how he was utilised on Wednesday.
