It has been a rough couple of months for Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. Since the beginning of January, the Gers have dropped 10 points in the league.
The slip-ups have resulted in their Old Firm rivals pushing on to create a 12-point lead in the title race. With at least eight matches to go in all competitions before the league splits, it will take something special for Rangers to lift the title at the end of the season.
However, while a comeback in the league looks implausible for this year, there is hope for the future. This month, the Rangers Youth travelled to Qatar to compete in the Alkass International Cup.
While there, Charlie Lindsay won the award for the competition’s joint top-scorer, scoring six goals. Rangers secured fifth place after beating the hosts, Aspire Academy, where Lindsay picked up his fourth Man of the Match award during the competition.
While discussing this news on Twitter, Rangers fans praised the young player’s ability. They are excited to see him break into the first team in the not-so-distant future.

Despite Rangers finishing 5th in @alkassdigital cup, behind Real Madrid, Inter, PSG & co, Charlie Lindsay picked up some individual awards.

Nice if these youngsters started getting their route to first team football, no point sending them all over the world for this experience so we can slop them off to Falkirk for an undisclosed fee. Gerrard was given a chance as a youngster, why won’t he do the same for ours?

Looks a top player. Already played at senior level. Could be a big one for the future

Is it some consolation that the future’s bright?!? Well done Charlie Lindsay, joint top scorer and Tournament MVP! https://t.co/GxuTTHioOw

MVP of the tournament for Charlie Lindsay is a top accolade. Hopefully one we will see in the first team squad within the next season or two. https://t.co/IOwPwRvlrc

Get him in the first team for rest of season for experience. Perhaps next year have a chance of winning league.

Is Charlie Lindsay going to be a first-teamer within two years?
Yes
No
What do we think?
While Gers fans may be dejected at the first team’s recent incompetencies, there is plenty to look forward to. The emergence of players like Lindsay should only strengthen Steven Gerrard’s core group of players.
Interestingly enough, the 16-year-old isn’t even a Rangers player yet. Lindsay originally agreed to move to Rangers when he was 15.
The deal will become permanent in the summer. Lindsay has agreed to play as a guest player in a variety of tournaments between agreeing on the deal and the summer.
