Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic shared the points at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night, with Lewis Wing bagging a brace for the visitors. Jonathan Woodgate’s side came from behind to lead but were denied all three points when Harold Moukoudi headed Nathan Byrne’s cross into his own net.

The home side were forced to play the best part of half an hour with a man less after Chey Dunkley was sent off – leaving the Boro boss extremely frustrated his side were unable to capitalise and head back to the Riverside with all three points.

Is Lewis Wing more than just a goalscoring midfielder?

Despite the result, Lewis Wing’s double has prompted many supporters to take to social media and sing the 24-year-old’s praises.

What do we think?

The central midfielder, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), is known for his ability to shoot from long-distances (as per WhoScored.com). Wing has appeared for Boro 66 times to date and has scored 11 goals whilst providing six assists for his teammates. In our view, there is room for improvement in the Englishman’s overall game, but he’s shown he should under no circumstances be afforded the time or space to fire shots at goal from the edge of the penalty area as he was on Tuesday night.
