Leeds United signed French striker Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig last month but the French Under-21 international was left out of the squad that recently lost to Wigan Athletic at Elland Road. The Whites had 19 attempts at goal and 77% of the possession but were unable to make it count, prompting questions around Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to leave the 22-year-old out.
Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright has had his say on the subject, dismissing Bielsa’s recent comments regarding the need to get the striker up to speed. During BBC Radio 5 Live’s The Monday Night Club (via TeamTalk.com) he said: “The way to get a striker up to speed to start is to get him on the pitch to score goals and then you get him up to speed. I just can’t go with that getting up to speed one, it just seems a ridiculous thing to say.”
Should Jean-Kevin Augustin be starting games for Leeds United?
Yes
No
How have the Leeds United supporters reacted to Wright’s comments?
What are Ian Wright’s management credentials again? Are they better than Bielsa’s…?

Sorry I like Wrighty but I don’t agree with that one. He needs to learn the system and how he should press etc. Not really fair on him or the rest of team just to dump him in and expect him to find his way. As I keep saying the striker isn’t just about scoring, much more 2 it

Ian Wrigh has far too much to say about Leeds. Nketiah is back at Arsenal now, that’s the link over. Keep your opinions for MOTD.

he’s still bitter about his boy Eddie not starting

Ian Wright is a bit obsessed with Leeds to be fair because it didn’t work out for Eddie. I agree but I don’t really care about your opinion. Concentrate on Arsenal who’ve won SIX games this season, ta. https://t.co/3Ac8BV4ui7

What do we think?
When Leeds United landed Jean-Kevin Augustin the deal was seen as a huge coup for the West-Yorkshire club and so you can understand why those looking from the outside in are surprised at the fact he’s not playing. However, judging by the comments of these supporters, they trust in Marcelo Bielsa’s methods and believe that he will in time get the best out of the French striker.
