A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to a tweet from Phil Hay describing Helder Costa’s chance for the Whites during their 1-1 draw with Brentford.
The 26-year-old winger was presented with a golden opportunity to score against the Bees in the second half when a pass from Mateusz Klich deflected into his path. (2:00)
Instead of picking out either corner, he tamely fired an effort into David Raya’s arms. (2:02)
Perhaps Costa lacks confidence, as that made it seven league matches without a goal.
However, it is the Whites’ problems in front of goal in general that had these Leeds fans talking.
CHANCE: Massive one for Leeds, they break down the right, Klich gets into the box and has Bamford free towards the back post. Klich's pass catches a defender's foot and falls to Costa who shoots straight at Raya. Brentford wide open. #lufc

incredible, never seen a team so bad infront of goal

Seriously though, why can’t we score ?

Absolute garbage. Lovely to get into that position but as per usual no end product. Hopeless

Can any of our players hit a shot with conviction?

We missed a big chance again shock

Other Whites supporters, though, targeted Costa.
Hadi Sacko 2.0 at the best of times, is Costa…

Surely we’re not buying costa for 15m ??

What do we think?
This was a bad miss by Costa (2:00), but he was not alone. Patrick Bamford skied a header when totally free in the box. (1:49)
Jack Harrison spurned a glorious chance in the first half when he scuffed his effort after driving past two Brentford players. (0:12)
So even though Costa could have done better, he was not the only player guilty of wasting chances, and Leeds can look back at the game against the Bees as a missed opportunity.
They must now try and beat Bristol City on Saturday at Elland Road.
