A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to Ryan Edmondson’s injury update with Adam Pope confirming that the young striker would be out for eight weeks after having an operation on his knee.

This is a blow for Edmondson, who proved his goalscoring touch for the Whites’ Under-23s last season but has hardly had a chance under Marcelo Bielsa.

Was Bielsa right not to play Edmondson?

Some Leeds fans are disappointed for Edmondson as they want to see him given a try in the first team.

Other Whites supporters, though, are not bothered about this injury suffered by the 18-year-old because he is not a first-team player.

What do we think?

Patrick Bamford’s struggles in front of goal have been well documented this season, and some Leeds fans have wanted to see Edmondson given a try.

However, for one reason or another, Bielsa has refused to play the York-born forward and has continued to persist with Bamford.

The best thing for Edmondson might have been to send him to an EFL club rather than keep playing him at reserve level but Bielsa has refused to sanction a move for him.

This injury will keep Edmondson out until the beginning of April, so it is unlikely that he will feature for the first team this season, and even if he were fit, Bielsa would probably still not play him.
