Fulham moved up into third place in the Championship, closing the gap on Leeds United to just three points after they defeated Huddersfield Town at the weekend in a five-goal thriller. The Cottagers raced into a three-goal lead inside 31 minutes but the visitors battled their way back into contention when they pulled two goals back before the break.

Scott Parker’s side were boosted by the return of Aleksandar Mitrovic, who managed to get himself on the scoresheet, but it was their Slovakian goalkeeper Marek Rodak who received all the plaudits after making six saves during Saturday’s victory. Some have even compared him to a former Fulham hero.

Is Marek Rodak on his way to becoming the new Mark Schwarzer?

A couple of fans compared him to former Craven Cottage ‘keeper Mark Schwarzer, who made a whopping 220 appearances for the Cottagers.

What do we think?

Rodak, who is valued at £1.35 million (as per Transfermarkt), is just 23-years-old and his outstanding performance versus Huddersfield Town at the weekend has convinced many fans that he has what it takes to be a top goalkeeper.

So far this season, he has made 17 appearances in the league, conceding 17 goals and managing to keep seven clean sheets.

Rodak may have a long way to go before he’ll be regarded in the same category as Schwarzer but given what we saw of him at the weekend, that cult hero status isn’t beyond achievable.
