Some Celtic fans have made it clear that they are desperate to see Odsonne Edouard sign a new deal at the club as soon as possible.

The Hoops picked up an impressive 4-0 win over Motherwell in the Premiership on Wednesday. The game saw Edouard grab a brace once again, while Callum McGregor and Leigh Griffiths got a goal each for themselves, too.

Celtic’s Twitter account posted about Edouard, asking the fans to describe him in a few words. Some Hoops fans made it clear that they want to see the Frenchman sign a new contract.

Edouard’s current deal at Parkhead runs out in the summer of 2022. He joined the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2018 for a club-record fee of £9 million after spending the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Celtic.

Premier League side Leicester City had drawn links with a move for the Frenchman this past January, with reports saying that the Foxes were preparing an offer of around £30 million for the striker. The report also said that the Midlands club will make that offer in the summer transfer window.

It was also speculated in France by GetFrenchFootballNews that Ligue 1 side Monaco had made an offer for the former Paris Saint-Germain forward. The same report had said that Borussia Dortmund also wanted Edouard before they signed Erling Braut Haaland from RB Salzburg.

What do we think?

Edouard has scored 23 goals and has a tally of 16 assists while playing only 37 games in all competitions. These numbers are a big reason why Celtic fans are urging the player to sign a new deal and they are right to be desperate to keep him.
