Some Celtic fans have let their opinions known about a foul that Leigh Griffiths committed in the club’s 4-1 win over Hamilton at the weekend.
The Hoops picked up a 4-1 win away from home to stay at the top of the table and extend their lead at the top to seven points. Odsonne Edouard got a brace, while James Forrest and Christopher Jullien also got a goal each. The game saw Griffiths start once again.
Should Griffiths be banned?
He's done nothing wrong!
Yes, it was a violent one
But an incident from the game saw Griffiths potentially stamp on a Hamilton player. When Celtic fan called @Fitzy_072 posted about it on Twitter, many made it clear that he was merely trying to avoid the challenge and it was not a sending off.
I called that straight away, he went out his way to protect the player…he should get a medal.

He stamps his left leg on grass as opposed to right leg on player. Much ado about nothing.

All the while the guy grabs hold of his foot to make it look like he stamped

Think he tries to avoid hitting him on face/head as well.

I don’t know what the big fuss is with this! Can quite clearly see griffiths accidentally comes down on the lads arm with his left foot, he then tries to get off his arm so not to hurt the lad!

Precisely. He does the opposite of a stamp. He places his leg hard on the grass to stay balanced whilst holding his other leg up to AVOID stamping the player.

So far this season, Griffiths has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. He has racked up a tally of six goals, picking up two assists on the way too. He has started all of the club’s last four Premiership games, scoring twice and getting one assist. He had missed the early part of the season due to a hamstring injury, missing 15 games in total.
Last season, the striker had made a total of 20 appearances in all competitions for the club. He got as many as six goals, but had taken a break from the game in the second half of the season due to mental health issues.
What do we think?
The video shows that Griffiths tries to get out of the way and unintentionally catches Hamilton’s Sam Woods in the process. He doesn’t deserve a ban for it as it wasn’t intentional at all.
