Some Celtic fans have been raving about the latest stat on the club’s goalscoring form in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Hoops recently picked up a convincing 4-1 win over Hamilton in the Premiership and increased their lead at the top of the table to seven points, thanks to Rangers being held to a goalless draw by Aberdeen at the weekend. Three goals in the final 15 minutes saw the champions come from behind to beat their 10-man opponents.
Is the SPL a 'farmers league' as many say?
No, never will be.
It is, I'm afraid
After the game, Bhoys-related Twitter page @CelticBible posted a stat about the club having scored the highest number of goals in Europe this season. This left many Celtic fans raving.
Good. Celtic not being top goal scorers in the league was another stick the MSM liked to beat Celtic with.

The Hoops have scored 68 goals in the Premiership this season – more than anyone else in the division and at double the rate of third-placed Motherwell. Their fierce rivals Rangers have scored only 57 goals in the league. Neil Lennon’s men have let in 15 goals in the league and that’s the second-best record in the division since Rangers have conceded only 13 goals.
Out of the 68 that Celtic have scored, striker Edouard has scored 17 of them. The Frenchman has also got a tally of nine assists. In all competitions, he has scored 21 times and has racked up 16 assists on the way as well.
Midfielder Ryan Christie has also been active in front of goal. He has scored ten goals in the Premiership, racking up as many as nine assists as well.
What do we think?
Celtic fans can certainly be happy about how many goals the team scores. But comparing it so surely to teams from other leagues is a case of blowing it out of proportions.
