Some Celtic fans have been issuing a plea to the club to sign Fraser Forster permanently after the club’s 1-1 draw against Copenhagen in the Europa League.

The Hoops earned a crucial away goal on Thursday evening in Copenhagen, thanks to Odsonne Edouard. The second half saw Dame N’Doye equalise as the side from the Danish capital came from behind to draw.

Do Celtic have the budget to sign Forster?

Forster was between the sticks for Neil Lennon’s men, and after the game, the club’s official account posted about the Englishman. This left many Hoops fans talking and raving about him. They want him signed permanently.

Forster arrived at Parkhead on a loan deal from Southampton in the summer. He has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, with 25 of them coming in the Premiership. He has kept 13 clean sheets in the league, letting in just 14 goals during this time.

This is Forster’s second spell at Parkhead. The first one ended when the Englishman joined the Saints in the summer of 2014 for a £10 million fee. His initial spell had started when he joined the Hoops from Newcastle United on loan in 2010.

What do we think?

The game in Denmark saw Forster win his one aerial duel and make one save as Celtic ensured they have something to defend in next week’s second leg. He got a Whoscored rating of 7/10 and it shows that the performance was a good one. Celtic fans are right to ask for his permanent signing.
