Some Birmingham City fans haven’t reacted particularly positively to rumours that the club are considering a summer move for Crewe Alexandra’s Perry Ng.
Ng is an academy product of Crewe Alexandra and has played 156 games for the club. The defender, who primarily plays as a right-back, but “can also play at centre-back”, is currently club captain of Crewe Alexandra at just 23 years old.
The defender will enter the final year of his current contract this summer, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. However, the Crewe skipper is reportedly “set to leave” the club, according to Birminghammail.co.uk (via TEAMtalk).
Ng’s Crewe currently sit in third place in the League Two table. Ng has made a total of five League Two assists this season, while he has also scored one goal for his team thus far. Furthermore, Ng has also 1.9 tackles per game and 1.1 interceptions per game in League Two this season (via Whoscored.com).
His performances at League Two level haven’t been impressive enough for some Birmingham City fans, who have reacted rather negatively to reports that the club are interested in the 23-year-old. No ta, I'm sure he's decent etc but as everyone else has said we don't need a RB. Doubt we'll be able to afford Hogan so a striker is priority.

What do we think?
Ng is currently valued at £45,000, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. Having always played his football at a lower league level than the Championship, and now going into the final year of his contract, Birmingham City could potentially secure a good deal for their target if they feel that he is good enough to make the step up to the second tier and contribute significantly to their campaign next season.
