Birmingham City’s Jude Bellingham delivered a praise-worthy performance for Birmingham City fans in his most recent Championship appearance.

Bellingham’s name has been featured in the headlines over the past week as transfer rumours continue to swirl around the future of the reportedly highly sought-after teenage wunderkind. Bellingham has received high praise as he continues to feature regularly for Birmingham City’s first team in the Championship at just 16 years old.

Bellingham’s talent has been noted by the FA’s former talent ID manager Daniel Dodds, who claimed this past December in an interview with The Athletic that the Birmingham youth is “as good as anything I’ve ever seen, comfortably”.

Birmingham City’s fans have contributed to the hype around the 16-year-old as much as anybody due to his impressive performances for the first-team at such a young age. Bellingham has earned an average Whoscored.com rating of 6.79 this season, which is the sixth-highest rating earned by any Blues player this season.

Some Blues fans have shown their appreciation for the 16-year-old’s performance versus Brentford at the weekend on social media, with one fan even dubbing it the youngster’s “best performance yet”. Read the appreciative messages from some Birmingham City supporters in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Bellingham performed well at the weekend against tough opposition in fourth-placed Brentford who currently sit 10 places above the Blues in the Championship table. The youngster notably struck the woodwork with one of his two attempts on goal.

In addition to that, Bellingham attempted two dribbles and played one key pass in Saturday’s game, according to Whoscored.com. This performance resulted in the website awarding Bellingham a 7.0 rating for this fixture, which is higher than the average rating they’ve given him for the season so far.

It may be fair to say Bellingham’s performance at the weekend shows he is producing even better performances now than he had previously this season. This shows the youngster’s improvement and growth starting to show as this season goes on.
