Some Birmingham City fans have been sharing their appreciation for manager Pep Clotet on social media following their 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday in this past weekend’s Championship fixture.

Saturday’s 3-3 draw saw the Blues go an 11th straight game unbeaten in all competitions. This includes their last eight Championship fixtures. Prior to this current undefeated run, the Blues sat in 18th place in the table, just six points above the Championship’s relegation zone. However, now Birmingham have jumped up to 14th place in the Championship table, 11 points above the relegation zone.

The Blues’ undefeated run nearly came to an end versus Sheffield Wednesday this past weekend. Wednesday led the game 3-2 going into stoppage time when a 91st-minute strike from Birmingham’s on-loan centre forward Scott Hogan tied the game up at 3-3, earning the Blues a point.

Following Saturday’s action-packed game, Clotet took to Twitter to state that his Birmingham side “fight to the end”. Some Blues fans replied to this tweet with praise for Clotet. Read the positive replies of some Birmingham City fans to Clotet’s post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Clotet’s start to life as Birmingham City manager wasn’t particularly impressive. The Spaniard lost 13 of his first 26 Championship games in charge of the Blues – meaning the Spaniard had a 50% loss rate at St. Andrew’s.

However, Birmingham haven’t lost any of their last eight Championship games. As a result, Clotet now has a loss percentage of just over 38.2%.

Furthermore, over the last eight Championship games, the Blues have earned a total of 16 points, giving them an average of two points per game in that time. Only Preston North End have earned a higher number of points than Birmingham over the last eight Championship fixtures. It may be fair to say that Clotet deserves credit for helping his team to turn their fortunes around on the pitch in recent weeks.
