Stoke City fans have been reacting angrily on Twitter to their 4-2 defeat against QPR on Saturday.

In what was an important match between two sides in the lower half of the Championship table, Stoke City started the game brightly, taking the lead through Sam Clucas on 27 minutes. Four minutes later, they had doubled their advantage, with Tyrese Campbell bagging his sixth goal of the season.

However, QPR fought back before the break, with Jordan Hugill halving the deficit before Eberechi Eze equalised for the Hoops in the 38th minute.

With the momentum generated by their strong finish to the first half, QPR went on to complete their comeback in the 71st minute, with Bright Osayi-Samuel firing home from a tight angle, before Ilias Chair sealed the points for the home side with a fourth in stoppage time.

Potters fans were left furious after the match, with many taking to social media claiming that their defensive display was simply not good enough.

What do we think?

Despite Michael O’Neill’s impressive improvement of the Northern Ireland national side, since his appointment as Stoke boss, results have been underwhelming.

In his 19 matches, Stoke have lost more times (nine) than they have won (eight), and with all three teams below the Potters in the table picking up points over the weekend, O’Neill’s side find themselves just three points off the relegation zone.

If the Potters are to have any chance of staying up this season, O’Neill will need to tighten up his leaky defence, and with important fixtures against teams around them in the table coming up, it needs to be sooner rather than later.
