Spurs fans were less than impressed with the performance of Dele Alli in the 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The 23-year-old midfielder struggled throughout the game at Villa Park, earning a 6.48 rating for his performance against Dean Smith’s side. He was eventually substituted late on by Jose Mourinho in the 83rd minute and was guilty of missing a few chances in Sunday’s win, with Football.london describing his display as a “really wasteful day from the midfielder”.
The former MK Dons man has struggled for consistency in recent weeks, despite Spurs having now won each of their last three games, which has led to some fans calling for him to be dropped on Twitter. The England international was largely outshone by Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, who earned a 7.9 rating from WhoScored yesterday, which could well put Alli’s potential place in Gareth Southgate’s England side under threat.

Dele Alli is another player who will soon(er) get relegated to the bench once JM has his own team. No excuse for his woeful performances since Last season. The Gedson dude can play in that position.
Alli is regressing.#THFC #AVLTOT #Dele— PoseidonVirus (@MysteriousTino) February 16, 2020

These Spurs fans were clearly not too impressed with Alli’s performance against Villa and will no doubt be hoping for better against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.
What do we think?
The £81 million-rated man struggled at times against Villa on Sunday and will surely be disappointed with his performance. With Giovani Lo Celso coming off the bench and receiving a higher match rating against the relegation candidates, perhaps we could see the Argentinian start ahead of Alli on Wednesday night.
