Spurs fans have been reacting to some footage of Tanguy Ndombele, perhaps in the hope that the Frenchman will sort his fitness issues out and find his best form.
The 23-year-old has struggled for consistent games so far this season, starting just 11 games in the Premier League since making the club-record move from Lyon during the summer transfer window. The Frenchman has shown brief glimpses of quality, most notably in the Champions League, where he averages an impressive 7.34 rating – but fitness issues have regularly proved a problem.
A video posted by a Spurs fan on Twitter has served to remind fans just how good the former Lyon man can be, with the fan also claiming that he can become better than former Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele, who left the club in January 2019.
Who would you rather have in your squad?
Mousa Dembele
Tanguy Ndombele
Reaction from Spurs fans to the footage of Ndombele can be seen in the tweets below.
No idea how people can watch him play and not be excited. If his issue is as simple as fitness, should be easily solved. If it’s attitude or chronic injury, that’s a different story.

He’s already head & shoulders above dembele

I don’t believe it’s a fitness issue at all. I think it’s about motivation, desire and belief. Everyone can see his ability … and that’s the point. With his ability he should be affecting games (and therefore JMs opinion) much much more than he is. I’m no hater, just what I see

I have my concerns that the PL is above is fitness ceiling and he will only ever be a bit player, no matter how much quality he shows. Either that or we Ledley him so he only plays and never trains to keep enough in the tank for game day.

Ndombele is a great talent. No doubt. The problem is running.
He has some bursts, then he takes long breaks.
Will his fitness ever reach the endurance needed in a PL game?
I am not too optimistic.

His physical conditioning is terrible and he spends half the time on the floor. You can see the talent but the attitude worries me. Nearly 100m on him and Sess is scary.

These Spurs fans seem to be in agreement that Ndombele is a terrific talent, but he seriously needs to improve his fitness if he is going to make it in the Premier League.
What do we think?
Despite having a pre-season and winter break under his belt, Ndombele still looks to be struggling for fitness and produced a poor performance when he was trusted with a start against Chelsea last weekend. Unless he can show Mourinho that he is working hard to improve, then it would not be a surprise to see the £58.5 million-rated man depart the club.
