Spurs fans were interested to hear that the North London club are in the mix to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
According to Mirror Football (via Ricky Sacks), Jose Mourinho was scouting the French defender in his trip to Germany this week, although Spurs may have to meet his reported £50 million release clause if they want to bring him to North London. Mourinho will most likely get a closer look at the 21-year-old when his side take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next week.
So far this season, the Frenchman has averaged an impressive 7.23 rating for his performances in the Bundesliga, with Julian Nagelsmann’s side still pushing for the title. Spurs have struggled defensively at times this season, keeping just four clean sheets in the Premier League and Upamecano could provide another option for Mourinho in defence.
Would Upamecano be a good signing for Spurs?
Yes
No

YES, finally. Upamecano and tanganga would be perfect. Or add In Toby for a back 3 with sessegnon left back and Aarons rb.

However, some Spurs fans don’t seem as keen on the 21-year-old defender.

These Spurs fans are clearly split on the potential signing of Upamecano but will perhaps have a better judgement after next week’s match.
What do we think?
The report from Bild suggests that Spurs would have to pay £50 million for Upamecano, so it would be an expensive transfer for the North London club, but with Jan Vertonghen potentially leaving in the summer when his contract expires, the Frenchman could prove to be his long-term replacement.
