Spurs fans have flocked to Twitter to destroy Eric Dier’s performance in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa.

The 26-year-old struggled at times in the win at Villa Park, earning a disappointing 6.62 rating for his performance, despite his perhaps inadvertent assist for Toby Alderweireld’s equaliser in the first half. The England international has failed to really establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s side so far this season, having made just eight starts in the Premier League, and averaging a disappointing 6.58 rating.

Since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, Dier has gone on to make 231 appearances for the North London club, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists. Mourinho was reportedly a big fan of the defensive midfielder during his time as Manchester United manager, so it is no surprise that the England international’s game time has increased since his arrival, however, if his poor form continues, then we could see him back on the bench in the near future.

Reaction from Spurs fans to Dier’s performance can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans were clearly not impressed by Dier’s display against Villa and will be hoping to see the 26-year-old benched for Wednesday’s clash with RB Leipzig.

What do we think?

Dier, who is valued at £27 million (as per Transfermarkt), has really struggled at times this season, especially in the Champions League where he has averaged a 6.17 rating, so it would be a surprise to see him start Wednesday’s match against Leipzig considering his performance against Villa.
