Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club are preparing to offer Japhet Tanganga a new contract.
According to the Daily Mirror (via Hotspur Related), the academy graduate could see his wage increase from £2,000 a week to £20,000 a week should he accept a new contract with the North London club. The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular in Jose Mourinho’s side in recent weeks and impressed with his performances, having averaged a superb 7.44 match rating, as per WhoScored.
Tanganga has demonstrated excellent versatility in his few appearances so far this season, featuring as a left-back and right-back, which will no doubt have impressed his Portuguese manager. It is no surprise, therefore, that he is reportedly set to be offered a significant pay rise, as the club look to tie down the young defender for the next few seasons.
Is £20,000 a week a sensible amount to offer Tanganga?

These Spurs fans are clearly happy to see Tanganga is set to be offered a new deal, although some commented that he deserved an even better offer.
What do we think?
Tanganga’s recent performances have shown he is worthy of a new contract at the club, and £20,000 a week seems like a sensible amount until he can really establish himself as a first-team player in Mourinho’s squad. With Jan Vertonghen contract expiring this summer, perhaps we could see Tanganga become a key defender for the North London club.
