Spurs fans were relieved to hear that Erik Lamela is back training with the first team at the North London club.

Fans were perhaps most relieved to see that the Argentinian’s return coincides with Heung-Min Son’s injury, with Jose Mourinho suggesting that the South Korean’s fractured arm could well rule him out for the rest of the season. Alasdair Gold was the bearer of good news for Lilywhites fans, as his picture on Twitter showed the former Roma man training with the rest of the squad ahead of the game against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

Lamela has struggled with injuries throughout his Tottenham career, missing 12 games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury but the Argentina international will have to work hard to keep himself fit now that Mourinho is without both Harry Kane and Son as attacking options.

Is Lamela the man to step up in Kane and Son's absence?

These Spurs fans are clearly happy to see Lamela back in training and will be hoping that the 27-year-old can avoid injury issues for the rest of the season.

What do we think?

Lamela has struggled at times this season, contributing just four goals and three assists in 21 games for the North London club. He may well need to improve those stats now that Spurs are missing both Kane and Son for the foreseeable future.
