Spurs fans have been reacting to a post from Alasdair Gold regarding Krzysztof Piatek after the Polish striker made a goalscoring start to life at his new club Hertha Berlin.

The North London club were heavily linked with a move for the former AC Milan striker during the transfer window, but he opted to make the move to the Bundesliga and netted on his first start in a 3-2 defeat to Schalke in the DFB Pokal.  The 24-year-old was seen by some to be the replacement for Harry Kane, who has been sidelined since the beginning of January with a hamstring injury, but Spurs missed out on the Polish international in the final days of the transfer window.

After Gold’s post relayed the news of Piatek’s first goal to Spurs fans on Twitter, many have commented on their frustration at missing out on a striker of his goalscoring pedigree. However, others have reaffirmed their thoughts that he isn’t good enough for Spurs and reminded Gold that their own signing, Steven Bergwijn, also enjoyed a goal on his debut.

Should Spurs have signed Piatek in January?

Reaction from Spurs fans to Gold’s post on Piatek can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly in disagreement over Piatek but it will surely be of frustration to some that the North London club failed to bring in any sort of striker during the transfer window.

What do we think?

Although Bergwijn made a goalscoring start at Spurs, he is a natural winger and the Lilywhites are lacking a senior central striker in the squad, so perhaps they should have just paid AC Milan what they wanted for the £28.8 million-rated Piatek.
