Spurs fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter that the North London club could look to sign Ajax’s Andre Onana during the summer transfer window.

According to Mail Sport (via Daily Hotspur), the Cameroonian goalkeeper wants a move to the Premier League next season with Chelsea and Spurs his preferred destinations. The report suggests that the 23-year-old is ready to quit the Dutch giants and seek a move to the Premier League, although he would cost between £40-£50 million.

Spurs have just welcomed Hugo Lloris back from a long-term injury that kept him out for 21 games earlier this season. However, the French international has quickly reminded fans what he is capable of, earning a man-of-the-match award for his performance against Manchester City last weekend, thanks in part to a penalty save against Pep Guardiola’s side. However, Onana could represent a long-term replacement for the 33-year-old Spurs captain, with the Ajax goalkeeper having impressed so far in the Champions League this season; averaging a 7.18 rating.

Who would you rather have starting in goal?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Onana can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans clearly don’t rate Onana and feel that Lloris is more than capable of remaining the first-choice keeper for the next few years.

What do we think?

Onana is currently valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt so it would be an expensive transfer for the club and would potentially cause issues in the dressing room considering Lloris is the captain, so perhaps Spurs would be best to spend their money elsewhere.
