Spurs fans have been discussing some of the club’s recent signings and their impact on the first-team squad on Twitter this week.
Spurs fan Jack Law listed some of the signings from the past few seasons, suggesting that only three or four from the list of 12 have made a positive impact. He includes January signings Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn, as well as Jack Clarke, who is yet to make an appearance for Spurs since signing from Leeds last summer, so it is perhaps a little premature to be writing off these players.
The fan suggests that poor recruitment might be what has caused both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho problems so far this season, with the Portuguese manager also failing to bring in a replacement striker for the injured Harry Kane during last month’s transfer window.
Do you think Spurs' recruitment has been poor in recent years?

Levy only normally buys potential with a view to making a profit.

Levy always cheaps out waits till the last second rather than buying good and buying early that’s why we are in the position we are its disgraceful

Two things stand out for me – We wanted Bruno Feranandes, we got Gedson Fernandes. We wanted Mane and got Sissoko. We wanted Dybala and we got no-one. Lack of ambition is killing us. Look at the team Wolves have assembled in a year and a half!! We should be embarrassed

Surely Poch is to blame for many of these and he must have sanctioned them. Add Njie and Nkodou to the list how many decent players did Poch sign?

I suspect we need a proper Director of Football, not Levy buying lightweight attacking midfielders because pound for pound they offer a better return on investment than established forwards (too costly) or emerging ones (too risky) or any proven defender or DM

Some of these are still too early to tell. Lo Celso could really be something special. Bergwijn is the product of all those terrible French winger experiments. Sessegnon hasn’t been promising, but is still so young and deserves time. It’s a new era

The majority of these Spurs fans are critical of the club’s recruitment in recent years and perhaps feel that a big overhaul is needed in the summer.
What do we think?
It is still too early to tell whether some of the players on the list will prove to be good signings, as a lot of them are young and are a long way off their full potential.
