Spurs fans have been reacting to some of Jose Mourinho’s post-match comments following the 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
The 57-year-old manager discussed the impact that injuries to Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane have had on the squad, saying (via BT Sport): “It is like to go to a fight with a gun without bullets. We did all we could do.”
A penalty from Timo Werner was the difference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which leaves the North London club with a lot to do when they travel to Germany for the second leg next month.
The Portuguese manager opted to start Lucas Moura and Dele Alli up front against Julian Nagelsmann’s side, but neither player impressed in the 1-0 defeat. With both Son and Kane expected to be out for some time, the experienced manager will no doubt have some tactical changes to make if he wants to turn the tie around at the Red Bull Arena in March.
Who is to blame for the poor performance against Leipzig?
Mourinho for poor tactics
Levy for not funding a move for a striker

The reason we go into this fight without the bullets is down to our chairman only doing half his job, yes the finances need to balance but we also need to have a squad of players available to challenge in every game! Absolute joke!

Well said, Jose! Levy has let everyone at Tottenham down. Mourinho is a winner, Levy isn’t! End of. #levyout #enicout

Bloke is delusional if he really believes this nonsense. Another inept display. Too many players simply below the required standard.

This is not the way. You take responsibility and do your best with what you have

These Spurs fans seem to be indecisive between blaming the manager and the chairman for Wednesday night’s defeat.
What do we think?
Spurs seem to be paying the price for failing to bring in a recognised striker during the January transfer window, but it is difficult to say whether that is entirely to blame for their poor performance against Leipzig.
