Some Southampton fans have been discussing the club’s poor home form and are talking about the potential reasons for it.
The Saints recently fell to a 2-1 loss at St. Mary’s against Burnley. Ashley Westwood scored the opener, but Danny Ings equalised soon after. However, a 60th-minute winner from Matej Vydra left Southampton with another defeat at home in the Premier League.
Can poor home form relegate Southampton?
Yes, there is a chance
We will survive
A Saints-related page discussed the club’s home form on Twitter, with many fans reacting to it and making their opinions known.
Unfortunately i think its fan negativity more than anything. People dont realise that shouting at players doesnt help, they need support not abuse

Maybe the fans need to take a long hard look at themselves

To be honest I’ve found the fan atmosphere at home games in the past few years so toxic. 90% don’t make any noise other than to hurl abuse at our own players for one mistake. The difference at away games is astounding

It’s our fans

We need to change the layout of the stadium. Having singing fans in the itchen and the northam split between a large away section kills our atmosphere. We either need everyone together in the northam or the chapel. We also need to kick towards that goal in the second half

It’s our moaning, negative fans.

The Saints find themselves at rock-bottom in the Premier League’s home table, having picked up only 11 points in the league at St. Mary’s so far. When it comes to the club’s away form, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men are as high as fifth in the table and have picked up 20 points on their travels.
The club’s last home league win came against Tottenham on the 1st of January, and had beaten Norwich City and Watford in consecutive home games earlier in the season. They’ve also held Manchester United and Crystal Palace to draws at St. Mary’s.
What do we think?
While their home form is certainly concerning, Saints fans should be happy with the club’s away form and that is one big reason why they are 12th in the table. Things can still get better and fans only need to be patient.
