Some Southampton fans have been left fuming by a tweet about January transfer window signing Kyle Walker-Peters.
The Saints climbed up to 12th in the Premier League despite losing 2-1 to Burnley at the weekend. Ashley Westwood scored for the Clarets while Danny Ings equalised in the first half, but a second-half winner from Matej Vydra handed them all three points at St. Mary’s.
How would you rate Walker-Peters' debut?
He looked good to me
Didn't like his performance
A Saints fan posted about the debut of Walker-Peters, but it left many Southampton fans angry. They expressed their anger about the tweet which criticised the defender’s strength.
Clueless. Stephens, Bertrand, Valery and a load of other teams defenders would all get out musceled by Chris Wood it’s hardly defining

It’s his first game!

Have you seen the size of Wood? He put muscles a lot of players…. absolutely clueless
— Cal (@96Callumboy96) February 17, 2020
No realistic amount of gym work is going to make a 5 foot 8 fullback out-muscle 6 foot 3 Chris Wood. It is a complete red herring!

Funniest comment on twitter for a while

Do you get paid to be overly negative and critical?

Walker-Peters joined the club from Tottenham on a loan deal till the end of the current season as Cedric Soares was loaned out to Arsenal in the last few days of the January transfer window.
Before arriving at St. Mary’s, Walker-Peters had made only three Premier League appearances for Spurs this season, while he also started for them in a loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League away from home.
What do we think?
As per Whoscored, the Englishman completed three dribbles and won a total of two tackles as well. He also made one interception.
It shows that the performance perhaps wasn’t as bad as the tweet makes it out to be. It was his first Premier League start since he played in the third game of the season for Spurs, so he may take time to get into full swing.
