Southampton are set to challenge Liverpool and RB Leipzig in the chase to sign Werder Bremen star Milot Rashica, as per German outlet Weser Kurier.

The report states that Bremen are likely to ask for what will be a record fee for the relegation-threatened Bundesliga side. They value the Kosovo international at around £22 million for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Impressing under Kohfeldt

Rashica, 23, has enjoyed an impressive season under Florian Kohfeldt this term and has been overperforming on his XG by 2.09 while scoring seven goals in the Bundesliga. While playing 18 games in the league, he also has a tally of three assists for Bremen.

In the DFB Pokal, Rashica has played three games and has three goals to his name. His impressive performances have come despite Bremen winning just two of their last 12 Bundesliga games.

He has completed 2.3 dribbles per Bundesliga game so far while taking 3.1 shots per game. He has also completed 1.7 key passes per game for the side.

TIF Tactics

Out of players who have played over 10 games for Bremen, Rashica has racked up the highest Whoscored rating for the club – 7.10. It shows that the Kosovan is a talent and is a proven goalscorer on his day.

As for the Saints, Che Adams is yet to score a single goal since arriving in the summer. Michael Obafemi has also scored just one goal in the Premier League for the club. This has led to Danny Ings contributing to 47% of the club’s goals. That is the highest a player has contributed to a team’s goals in the English top flight.

Therefore, getting someone like Rashica could lessen the burden on Ings for goals.
