The Saudi Arabian-backed consortium that has been in talks to buy Newcastle United may turn their attentions to West Ham United, according to Football Insider. It’s reported that the Gulf nation’s sovereign wealth fund has held discussions regarding the possibility of buying the Magpies for £340m, but a deal is yet to be agreed.

Newcastle United’s current owner Mike Ashley is extremely unpopular with the club’s supporters, who have held a series of protests against him, and the news that the latest takeover talks may have potentially broken down appears to have come as a huge disappointment to these fans.

Others, however, are convinced that talk of a takeover is simply fake news.

What do we think?

It comes as no surprise that some supporters refuse to believe these latest reports, as there has been much speculation regarding this latest takeover interest but as of yet, nothing has come to fruition.

Despite the turmoil off the field, Steve Bruce’s side has shown signs of improvement despite having lost several key players to injury.  The Magpies currently sit in 12th position in the Premier League and qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup after Allan Saint-Maximin’s spectacular winner at Oxford United on Tuesday.
