A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from Keith Downie after he suggested that Joelinton and Salomon Rondon together would have been a good partnership for the Toon.
The Sky Sports presenter suggested this idea in reply to the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas talking about former striker Rondon.
Would Joelinton be better with Rondon?
Yes
No
However, these Toon fans do not agree with Downie because they feel that Joelinton is not good enough.
Actually think Joelinton would’ve worked alongside Rondon, or just off of him. Would’ve been a real problem for any defence…

Really Keith
As in getting Joelinton goals do you mean
Not sure it would improve his woeful lack of natural finishing ability
If it were the case why not playing off Carroll (well when playing that is!!)
Feel for Joelinton

Joelinton has shown absolutely nothing that suggests he could do anything playing off anyone.

Sorry Keith, Joelinton is absolutely dreadful, he makes Rivière look quality. Couldn’t finish a 20p mix up

I’ve given up on Joelinton. An average player who will never break through his current plateau, regardless of team or league. Lost cause.

You’re bang on mate. Perez and joelinton are very similar in that they both arrive in the 2nd phase. They would’ve been lethal together imo.

For once i agree with you Keith

That would’ve given the lad half a chance to adjust to the pace Premier League and taken the pressure off. NUFC lack forward planning and transition. Liverpool buy now for 12/18 bedding in to the 1st team.

What do we think?
Newcastle’s combination of Ayoze Perez and Rondon was brilliant as in the 31 matches they played together, they were involved in eight direct goal contributions with each other.
However, the Toon decided not to sign the Venezuelan permanently and brought in Joelinton, perhaps thinking he could be Rondon’s replacement.
They also have not really replaced Perez as Allan-Saint Maximin usually plays on the left, while the Spaniard often played on the right last season.
Unfortunately, we will probably never know if Joelinton would be better with Rondon, but Downie’s tweet has got these Toon fans talking at least.
