A lot of Newcastle United fans have reacted to Michael Owen’s latest comments about his time on Tyneside.
Speaking on Jamie Carragher’s ‘The Greatest Game’ podcast (via the Chronicle) Owen claimed that he only moved to Newcastle because he believed that he could then go back to Liverpool in a year.

The former Manchester United striker claimed that he had a clause in his contract that would allow him to go back to Anfield after a year.
This has caused many Toon fans to react, and most of them couldn’t care less about Owen, judging by these tweets.

What do we think?
Owen is despised on Tyneside, and even though these comments were described as “inflammatory” by the Chronicle, it seems that most Toon fans are simply not bothered by what Owen has to say.
Since leaving Newcastle, the former England striker has not hidden the fact that he hated his time on Tyneside, and luckily for him, most Toon fans feel exactly the same way.
