Former Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling was extremely fortunate not to be shown a red card during Manchester City’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday. The England international caught Dele Alli on the ankle in what appeared to be a reckless challenge but received just a yellow card despite a VAR check taking place.
The decision to allow Sterling to continue left football fans up and down the country totally bemused – leading to these Liverpool supporters questioning why he appears to have been given preferential treatment.
Should Raheem Sterling have been shown a straight red-card?
Yes

What do we think?
There is certainly a strong argument that Sterling should have been shown a straight red card. There has been an on-going joke amongst Premier League fans this season who seem to think Liverpool’s incredible run so far has been aided by the Video Assistant Referee’s but contrary to popular belief, that hasn’t been the case.
One VAR intervention has led to Jurgen Klopp’s side being awarded a goal but they’ve been denied a goal by the technology on three occasions so far this season according to a report by ESPN.
